Chemical Properties Colorless or light yellow fibrous powder, almost odorless and odorless. Soluble in water into a viscous liquid, insoluble in ethanol, ether and chloroform. The pH value of 1% aqueous solution is 6-8, and the aqueous solution viscosity is stable at pH 6-9, and gelation can be formed in the presence of Ca2+ and other high-valent ions.
