Chemical properties Yellow brown powder. Do not dissolve in water, slightly soluble in ethanol, soluble in tetrahydronaphthalene, xylene. It is dark blue in concentrated sulfuric acid and produces a yellow-brown precipitate after dilution. It is blue-red in the alkaline powder reduction solution and orange in the acid solution.
